Oral sedation is a prescribed pill that helps you relax during your procedure. You take the pill in our office one hour prior to your dental appointment. You may relax and watch TV while the pill takes effect. You will quickly start to feel calm, relaxed and perhaps drowsy.
You will not go unconscious and you will remain awake enough to answer questions and let us know if you are comfortable. Patients often fall asleep during their appointment and it is possible you won't remember the appointment the next day. It is very important that someone picks you up and drives you home after your appointment.
